It is also a registered charity, regulated by the Charity Commission which brings about the benefits of additional governance and scrutiny, a trusted brand, attract individual and corporate donations, grant leverage and long-term sustainability. All activities and 100% of profits are directed into the trust’s key charitable aims, objectives and schemes that support the most vulnerable members of the community access much needed services.

SLT GROUP has been established for public benefit to:
1

Provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their condition of life.

To provide or assist in the provision of community rooms and other facilities for the use by the public at large without distinction of political, religious or other opinions including use for meetings, lectures and classes; and other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants

To promote community participation in all forms of healthy recreation both indoors and outdoors

To advance awareness, knowledge and appreciation of the arts in all forms including but not limited to drama, dance, sculpture, painting, music, singing, cinema and literature

To advance the education (both academic and vocational) of the public and, in particular (but not limited to) young people from the age of 16 in subjects of sports, sports management and related subjects, with a particular focus on (but not limited to) general sports, recreation, football, health and fitness

The relief of sickness and the preservation of health by providing specialist exercise programmes for those who have a health condition or at risk of health condition, arising from a sedentary or inactive lifestyle;

Such other charitable purposes consistent with the above as the trustees in their absolute discretion shall determine.

SENTINEL LEISURE TRUST is part of SLT GROUP as a separate subordinate charitable trust with the same objectives for the sole purpose to be the operating partner to local authorities. This enables representation on the board of Sentinel Leisure Trust of partnered local authorities to add further governance and engagement within the operation and management of publically owned facilities. Sentinel Leisure Trust is currently partnered with Great Yarmouth Borough Council for the management and operation of Marina Leisure Centre and Phoenix Pool & Gym
